NU:S

Designer

  • Arch. Arturo Tedeschi

Location

  • Rome - Dubai

A sculpture in satin aluminum was fabricated for the project NU: S “fashion wears architecture” exibition. The project created by studio DOUBLE, to combine fashion and architecture in a spectacular event was hosted in the Renaissance atmosphere of the Bramante Courtyard in Rome. The sculpture was designed by the Architect Arturo Tedeschi, author of the best seller “Parametric Architecture with Grasshopper”.

The fashion exhibition happened around the aluminum sculpture. The multi-channel audio installation was by Davide Severi; the fabric of the clothes worn by the dancers was from Chiara Colas; the shoes were by Alessio Spinelli. The group met through the NOUS (NU: S) a term derived from the Greek word meaning “Spirit”.

Un po di numeri:

  • The sculpture was made using 137 sheets of aluminum 5 mm thick, cut with the Waterjet machine and satined by hand.
  • Each piece that composed the aluminum sculpture, being different in shape and size, was carefully numbered, then drilled and assembled one by one.
  • The slabs were stacked on top of each other by using 14mm diameter steel threaded bars and fastened with 1498 hexagonal nuts.
  • Lamberti pre-assembled the sculpture in the factory, then disassembled it and reassembled it again in Rome.

Finally, the sculpture found its home in the United Arab Emirates.
