Metal burnishing is a process that transforms a metal surface into an expressive element, capable of providing chromatic depth, protection, and a strong material character. In projects developed by Lamberti Design, this treatment is not merely a technical step, but a deliberate design choice that enhances the metal by emphasizing its texture, reflections, and ability to interact with light and surrounding materials. Through controlled processes, the surface acquires dark, nuanced tones.
Within the company, research on finishes is centered in a state-of-the-art chemical laboratory, equipped with advanced technologies and instruments and specialized in metal surface treatments. This space represents the core of research and development activities, where innovation and experimentation come together to create unique patinas and finishes. Each treatment is carefully studied to ensure not only a distinctive aesthetic result, but also durability and resistance, guaranteeing that surfaces maintain their beauty and functionality over time.
The Lamberti Design Burnishing Process
The burnishing process developed by Lamberti Design involves a surface chemical reaction that gives the final piece a bronzed effect; depending on the client’s request, the intensity of the color can be adjusted. The finishes are then completed with a suitable protective coating. These finishes can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Burnishing is not simply a coloring process, but a controlled reaction that gives the metal a deep, lived-in, and magnetic appearance.
It is a process that combines industrial chemistry with the artisanal sensitivity of our finishing department.
Applications
For Tenuta Pezzapane, the fireplace wall was entirely clad, from floor to ceiling, with burnished brass decorative sheets, custom-cut and shaped. The bar counter was also produced using the same finish.
