Design meets Cava de’ Tirreni: the Aegis Collection

Every project has a story that goes beyond its creation. In 2019, Lamberti Design manufactured the Aegis collection, designed by Ziad Alonaizy, a designer with whom the company has collaborated for several years on the development of metal design projects.

Once production was completed, before the pieces were delivered to their clients, a simple yet spontaneous idea emerged: to create the official photo shoot for the collection in Cava de’ Tirreni.

When your production facility is located in an Italian town rich in history and beautiful architecture, finding the perfect setting for a design project comes naturally. The Cloister of Convent of San Francis, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, was chosen as the location. Here, the clean lines of the tables blended naturally with the historic architecture, creating a striking visual dialogue.

For Ziad Alonaizy and the London-based photographer who travelled to Italy for the shooting, it was also an opportunity to visit the town of Cava de’ Tirreni. Both were captivated by the atmosphere of the historic town centre and the beauty of the cloister, choosing to make it an integral part of the visual story behind the collection.

Once the photo shoot was complete, the tables began their journey to collectors and clients in different parts of the world. Together with Ziad Alonaizy’s design and Lamberti Design’s Italian craftsmanship, the images carried with them the backdrop of Cava de’ Tirreni—a small piece of our hometown travelling internationally alongside the collection.

We like to remember this project because it shows, in a simple and authentic way, how design can bring together people, craftsmanship and places. On one side, an international designer’s vision; on the other, Italian manufacturing expertise. And in the background, the timeless beauty of Cava de’ Tirreni, which naturally became part of the story of the Aegis collection.
